Karo and Zettle
Set up for what comes after your first card reader.
Zettle, now being renamed PayPal Point of Sale, is a quick way to start taking cards. When you need a second site, tables, bookings or Klarna at the till, here is how it compares with Karo, from its own pages as read on September 28, 2026.
Where they differ.
| Where they differ. | Karo | Zettle |
|---|---|---|
| The card terminal | Bring your own terminal and acquirer to Counter Full, or use Karo Pay | A PayPal Point of Sale card reader is required to take cards |
| Klarna | Through Karo Pay | No longer available, since August 14, 2025 |
| Selling offline | Yes, card payments included, on every preset | The device must be connected; offline card payments aren't in the standard app |
| More than one site | Several sites in one Karo, reported site by site | Multisite isn't available for new merchants |
| Tables and the kitchen | The floor, checks split by seat, orders to a kitchen printer or screen | A table number on a saved cart; a table map and kitchen display aren't stated |
| Bookings | Bookings and the till share one system | Not stated |
| The 2027 rules, SKVFS 2021:17 | Met, including XML export of the journal; manufacturer's declaration on file | Not named on its own pages |
| People on support | Weekdays 08–18 and weekends 10–16, and Vera around the clock | Weekdays 09:00 to 17:00 |
The Karo column is ours. The other column is what Zettle says on its own public pages, read on September 28, 2026; where a page doesn't say, the cell says so. No prices are compared: they change, and ours are quoted for each business.
Questions about Zettle.
No. Your products and prices come across into Karo, and Zettle stays in use until the day Karo takes over.
Bring your card reader to the demo.
Say what you sell and where, and you'll see what Karo adds on the day a single reader stops being enough.
